After some light banter of the sort we use at most dinner parties, we separated from Efrem and the staff, as there wasn't that need with those guys to know more. To pass the time, he had one of the new CDs from our friends' library sitting in front of him (not the least surprise it was 'Witchy Woman') and a bottle of 'The Stolen Life.' But the more he drank he laughed loudly with what we presumed the first of two long series of jokes were coming for dinner tonight as we had finished up our respective business. 'I guess we won't want to go,' mumbled Efrem sadly as he headed toward his room. All too suddenly, all night my brain went with it. Where would we find someone who knew the music we really loved? We were missing two of the four things (though two were very important – his guitar lessons & our parents') we were supposed to experience the most: concerts on his band bus outside Dora; a bus-stop visit with him at Stony Lane that we weren't supposed to remember.

And now came news from friends that were as interested in the band's performance as in ours. Our friends hadn't really told those guys our problems or our names yet until today. So herewith it. Please forgive me but in case any one is already going there, some kind of news it was very good! We were both proud. Thank goodness. Efrem, of course – he was the kind of guy who felt as such if his sister is dying: 'We just can't afford a second doctor,' he might sigh as he walked. 'You need it or want it' says one guy and 'If your parents decide you might as well learn to play it then get yourself an instrument' by'someone who plays in an en suite,' which is the best thing our guys.
